Where Are We Safe?
We read in the Bible of many instances of protection of those who trusted in God. David is an example. He trusted God to care for him when he met and conquered Goliath. He was unharmed when King Saul tried to slay him with his javelin. When his son Absalom revolted and attempted to kill him, David was saved.
Even though our problems seem to be Goliaths to us, fear would have us hung up on the belief that God is too distant to be concerned with helping us. But He is not distant. It is our mistaken mortal thought that seems to put distance between God and us. We need to realize that we are really at one with Him in the spiritual universe right now. God, Love, is infinite and forever near. When we realize this truth, we see His supremacy right where we are. Mrs. Eddy writes, "Immortal Mind, governing all, must be acknowledged as supreme in the physical realm, so-called, as well as in the spiritual." Science and Health, p. 427;
From all directions we hear concern about safety. Many feel unsafe on the street and in their own homes. But if we trust in the power of God, the source of all protection, we can be freed from these fears and assured of our safety.
