I am grateful for the guidance and protection of Christian Science....
I am grateful for the guidance and protection of Christian Science. I can testify to the permanence of healing by its means. We had made an appointment with a throat specialist to have one of our daughters operated on for diseased tonsils, adenoids, and glands in her throat. After the examination we were given a card to be presented to a hospital on a certain day and hour, and we agreed to comply with the directions.
After leaving the doctor's office I met a friend who was a Christian Scientist. I had been to church with her several times, and I loved the service. This friend asked me if I did not think this was a good opportunity to trust God with our problem. Immediately I knew this was what I truly wanted. I went to my husband's office and asked his permission to have Christian Science treatment. He readily gave his consent and called the doctor and told him that I wished to have treatment in Christian Science. The doctor said we were making a big mistake, that our little girl was in a very serious condition. My husband thanked him, but made it very final and asked him to present his bill for the office call.
We called on a Christian Science practitioner that afternoon, and I will never forget my little girl's joy as she came out from the office. She exclaimed, "Mama, I am all well!" And she was! I will ever be grateful to the practitioner, who also gave us much very helpful instruction. I bought a copy of the Manual of The Mother Church by Mrs. Eddy and a Christian Science Quarterly. I already owned the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. I commenced attending church regularly and entered our children in the Sunday School. A year later I was accepted for membership in a branch church, and two years later I became a member of The Mother Church.
