In our home it has been proven many times that the understanding of God gained through Christian Science is "a very present help in trouble" (Ps. 46:1).

When our son was in preschool, he had a cold that seemed to affect his ears. Weeks after the cold was gone he still could not hear properly. We prayed for him, renewing our efforts after the condition was mentioned by his schoolteacher.

One day about a month later when I told our son to do something, I was standing behind him, and he was not aware I had spoken. The healing thought came strongly that whether he heard me was not the important thing—the truly important activity that was always going on was God communicating to His idea, man, and this communication could not be thwarted. I affirmed this whenever the condition came to mind, and in two days it was completely healed.
