Freedom from False Labels
Coming back into Christian Science following a remarkable healing of alcoholism, I seemed to attract harsh criticism from certain individuals who acted like the elder brother in the parable of the prodigal son. See Luke 15:11-32; And, as long as I held this false view of them as harsh people rather than as God's spiritual ideas, they treated me like a prodigal.
Unlike the parable, my own brother had healed me, and much of the joy that came with my healing was from the love expressed so genuinely and generously by many welcoming me back into the fold. But wherever I went, and at that time I was traveling extensively, I would encounter those elder brother types who seemed aloof and skeptical about my reformation. Every attempt at friendliness failed and in some instances was misinterpreted. Many were petty critics of everything I said or did.
Finally I resolved to end the problem by writing a metaphysical article that would heal those elder brothers!
