I have long been grateful for Christian Science and it is high time that I submit this testimony.

In 1956, a sad incident in my life overwhelmed me with grief. In my desire to understand how God could allow such an incident, I began a search for a religion that would teach me the truth of God. I had thought of Him as good and as Love but could not fit the sorrowful experience into this concept.

After much inquiry I came upon one of Mary Baker Eddy's books, Miscellaneous Writings. With some skepticism I began to read. Then I came to these words on page 26: "God is All, in all. What can be more than All?" It was as if a light had been turned on in a dark room. Although I could not explain it in words, my questions were answered and the grief melted away. I had glimpsed something of the ever-presence of God. I had realized, for a moment, the total unreality of evil in this presence. I saw that God does not allow evil. Although I was grateful for the release from grief, the more important result of this awakening was that the direction of my life was changed from one of extreme self-centeredness to one of expanding love for God and mankind.
