The Immediacy of the Christ

Christ Jesus, the Way-shower to eternal Life, God, proved in a practical way the healing power of the Christ. This Christ, or spiritual idea of God, enabled Jesus to recognize the God-given identity of each individual asking for his help. The receptive in thought were healed instantly. Thus the Bible says, "His fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatick, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them." Matt. 4:24;

According to Christian Science, the Comforter Jesus promised would appear, each of us can gain a true knowledge of himself. That is, we can pray to see man as the complete and limitless reflection of Spirit, God. This is awaking to the Christ—our true, spiritual selfhood and its eternal unity with the eternal Maker.

It is tremendously encouraging and practical to know that Spirit is also Love, Truth, and Mind, filling all space. Hence man is forever safe, sound, spotless, and perfect as the spiritual son of God.
