My mother found Christian Science before I was born, and my two sisters and I grew up learning to turn to God for help rather than to material means when we needed a solution to any problem.

Through the years there have been many proofs of the healing power of Christian Science. Scarlet fever, whooping cough, asthma, and chicken pox are some of the healings I remember. It was after my son was born that I really became a thorough student of this Science. His birth was what the doctor called "a miracle." There were complications, and the doctor said he could have been stillborn. My mother was my Christian Science practitioner, and was in the maternity home with me. She told me afterward that a suggestion of death came to her, and that this was met by her clear understanding of God as the only Life of man.

My son had some good healings when he was a boy. His schoolteacher brought him home one day and told us he had mumps and should not return to school until the time allotted by the doctor for its cure was up. Through prayer in Science he was healed overnight and enjoyed some two weeks' vacation.
