Less Talk, More Communication
A mother who lost her voice for several weeks found her four children far better behaved than they had ever been before. Why? She had been talking too much; the children had been tuning her out. Now she had to write, instead of speak, to communicate with them, and so she conveyed only what was vital. The children had tuned back in.
Less talk and more communication—isn't this what most of us need? "He that hath knowledge spareth his words." Prov. 17:27; Wise words from the book of Proverbs!
Words are not necessarily communication. Communication means the transmission and reception of ideas. And, in reality, to use Mrs. Eddy's words, "the intercommunication is always from God to His idea, man." Science and Health, p. 284; God is the communicator. Understanding our role as God's expression, His image and likeness, we become receptive of His guidance and reflect His communication.
