Loving Ourselves More
Medical science is increasingly acknowledging the destructive effect of hatred on the material body. Many physical ills, as well as warped mental conditions, are now being attributed to this virulent cause. Christian Science points out that the harmful effects of hatred on both the hater and the hated can be counteracted by replacing hatred with the expression of divine Truth and Love.
In Miscellaneous Writings Mrs. Eddy makes this arresting statement: "Hate no one; for hatred is a plague-spot that spreads its virus and kills at last." Mis., p. 12; Hatred can kill many things in one, among them self-respect, justice, compassion, hope, as well as inspiration, joy, and progress. The loss of any one of these greatly diminishes one's peace of mind.
Have you ever thought how much of the hatred in the world could be eliminated if people were to increase their love of themselves?
