When my two children were very young, I prayed on my knees...
When my two children were very young, I prayed on my knees earnestly one night to God and asked Him to guide me to a religion that would take me directly into His presence without any rituals. At this period of my life I was experiencing many problems, including a recent divorce and painful physical problems.
But this particular night I was praying mainly because I felt I should be taking my two children to Sunday School. I was not praying for healing, because I didn't know that God healed disease. I thought that only medicines and operations healed physical illnesses.
Shortly after I had prayed, my next door neighbor told me she had a book that would heal me. I thanked her, but told her I didn't think a book would help me, but that if I did change my mind I would come knocking at her back door. Three weeks later I did knock at her back door, because I was still in extreme pain. She lovingly handed me a little book called Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. I started reading it that night, and after reading about ten minutes I knew without a doubt that this was the religion I had been looking for all my life. This book brings one directly into God's presence.
