As I recall healings through an understanding of God in Christian Science over the past fifty years, I rejoice with these words of Mrs. Eddy's: "To-day my soul can only sing and soar. An increasing sense of God's love, omnipresence, and omnipotence enfolds me" (The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, p. 174).

The most outstanding healing I witnessed was that of my father's condition of hiccups. This condition had persisted for ten days, and my father was under the care of a physician. At the end of this ten-day period the doctor's verdict was that my father would not live through the night. Father was then in his eightieth year.

Later that evening I asked my sister, who was at that time a medical nurse, if I could sit up with Dad. She agreed, and so I took my Bible, and Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and began declaring the truth for my father. At about three in the morning the hiccuping stopped. Two hours later he awakened and was feeling fine and asked for something to eat. In the morning when the doctor came, he saw my father sitting in a chair on the back porch. The doctor declared that a miracle had happened. Also, several relatives who came to the house that morning witnessed this proof of God's healing power.
