I am grateful for having been raised in a home where Christian Science...
I am grateful for having been raised in a home where Christian Science was relied upon as the only healer (as a child I was healed of a "blue spell" and mastoiditis, among other things).
One of the demonstrations that have meant much to me was that of Christian Science class instruction—how it came into my experience and what has resulted from it. At the time I applied for class I was a high school English teacher, and the class instruction I wanted to take was to be given in September that year. I applied to the superintendent of schools for a two weeks' leave, which I was certain would be granted. Because of the importance of the first weeks' activities at school, my request was denied. I was astounded! I knew that my having class at that time and with that particular teacher was a right step, but I did not know what to do about employment for the next year.
