Sunday School Was a Warm, Loving Place
[Special to the Sentinel]
Just a short time after my parents dissolved their marriage, this idea came to me: God is my Father and Mother. Because of the harmonious oneness of God, because there is only His one kingdom, and because God, the creator, is the Father and Mother of all, there can be no divorce or division in the fatherhood and motherhood of God. And I could not be separated from my Father-Mother God, either.
This is what I'd learned from Christian Science Sunday School. But let me start at the beginning.
My brother and sisters and I had all been enrolled in Sunday School for years, but going to church got to be a formality because our parents didn't practice Christian Science. At one point the violence at home reached the front page of the local newspaper.
