Healing March 3, 1973 Issue

Healing through acknowledging God as the only lawgiver

Isaiah wrote, "The Lord is our judge, the Lord is our lawgiver, the Lord is our king; he will save us." Isa. 33:22; When healing is needed, we can reject the claim that matter can make laws for man, and we can prove that all law comes from God. Christian Science shows that God is the divine Principle of the universe, including man, and that His will is the sovereign law of His creation. Through this law God forever maintains in perfect health and harmony all that He has made.

Christian Science healing is the operation of God's law, the law of divine Mind. Mrs. Eddy explains, "Christian Science recognizes that this Mind is the only lawgiver, omnipotent, infinite, All." The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, p.108. Whatever does not proceed from divine Mind, and yet calls itself law, is lawless, hence powerless.

Inasmuch as God does not create sin, sickness, and death, these conditions have no real existence. No law of God supports them. They are the illusions of so-called mortal mind claiming to govern man. But in reality there is one Mind. There is no opposing mind to make laws contradictory to those of the divine Lawgiver. His laws constitute and control man and regulate all that concerns him.
