[Ability to demonstrate Christian Science comes with study and practice of the truth taught by Christ Jesus and revealed in Science and Health. This series touches upon some ways in which this truth can be applied]

Healing by recognizing one's own place and mission

When we feel a strong sense of the divine Mind's calling upon us to do healing work for someone, or for ourselves, there is emerging at that point in our experience a clear definition of our place in God's universe and of our mission on earth.

If we really know this work is ours to do—that it has its place in the demonstration of our identity as ideas of the infinite Mind —we will accomplish the work.

God's purpose is to express Himself. We find our place as we come to understand that we are His expression. The Bible tells of the history by which the truth of man's identity as God's idea has come to us. This gives us the background we need to understand our individual mission on earth. As we acknowledge the way in which Truth has been revealed to us through the Bible and through the revelation of Christian Science, we can understand Mrs. Eddy's words: "No person can take the individual place of the Virgin Mary. No person can compass or fulfil the individual mission of Jesus of Nazareth. No person can take the place of the author of Science and Health, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science. Each individual must fill his own niche in time and eternity." Retrospection and Introspection, p. 70.
