Christian Science has been a way of life for me for over twenty years. I have had many wonderful physical healings, and financial problems have been solved. With each problem has come the challenge to study and understand more of man's relationship to God.

Some years ago a small growth that had been on my face for many years began to grow. It became enlarged and unpleasant looking. I prayed for a healing of the condition constantly, but it did not disappear. I worked with the quotation from the Bible (Heb. 4:12): "For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."

This was the first physical problem I had ever had that was clearly visible to other people. One of my co-workers who was not a Christian Scientist became very upset about my condition. Every morning I had to listen to fearful stories of what had happened to friends of hers who had had similar growths. She insisted that I go to a doctor and have surgery. She even offered to call a doctor and make an appointment for me. I resented this very much and became very self-conscious about my appearance. I tried to avoid meeting people, especially those I thought might comment on the problem.
