What a glorious inheritance is given to us through the understanding...

"What a glorious inheritance is given to us through the understanding of omnipresent Love!" Mrs. Eddy writes this in Miscellaneous Writings, page 307, and I can testify to realizing this fact since I undertook the study of Christian Science a little over four years ago.

I am grateful to the two co-workers who so let their light shine that I was attracted to this blessed religion, and for the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, that one of them gave me. Although it sat on a shelf for a year untouched, I took it down and read it when I needed it the most. Truth came to my rescue when it seemed that only inharmony was to rule the rest of my life. With marital problems, inharmonious relationships with family and friends, a persistent nervous disorder, a history of three surgical operations, and the loss of two babies, I used to wonder why everybody else but me seemed to be finding happiness. Had I really sinned so much as to be eternally punished?

In Science and Health we find (p. 322): "The sharp experiences of belief in the supposititious life of matter, as well as our disappointments and ceaseless woes, turn us like tired children to the arms of divine Love." So Christian Science found me, ready to receive what it had to offer when all else had failed. One morning as I pondered the seven synonyms for God as given in the Glossary of Science and Health, a glorious light dawned, and a new and fuller understanding that God is All came to me. It is impossible to put into words that sacred experience, for it overpowered me, and I knew I had touched the hem of Christ's garment and could now start building on a firm foundation. The synonyms of God found in the textbook are (p. 587): "Principle; Mind; Soul; Spirit; Life; Truth; Love."
