The Might of Tenderness
One of the more remarkable characteristics found in truly great men and women is tenderness. And it is probable that this quality of tenderness is the adhesive and cohesive force that gives meaning to, and unites, all other individual qualities that produce an extraordinary and useful career. Certainly it was a characteristic of the Master, Christ Jesus.
Indeed, the power of spiritual healing is most effectively administered through tenderness and utmost kindness. Mary Baker Eddy writes in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, "Tenderness accompanies all the might imparted by Spirit." Science and Health, p. 514;
Tenderness and kindness are sometimes mistaken for weakness. But they signify power, ability, and accomplishment. Mrs. Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, writes with modesty, "The little that I have accomplished has all been done through love,—self-forgetful, patient, unfaltering tenderness." My., p. 247;
