Stilling Self-righteousness
In the work of healing disease through Christian Science treatment nothing is more important than silencing self-righteousness. One might say that self-righteousness, in many cases, is the name of the disease. This is not to say that everyone who is sick is guilty of self -righteousness, or that one who is sick can be healed by telling him to stop being self-righteous. But everyone who seems to be sick can be awakened to the fact that he has been influenced to believe himself a mortal and that he need no longer be so influenced.
The awakening power is God. Mary Baker Eddy expresses this truth in her poem, "Feed My Sheep." It includes these words:
