When my oldest sister first told me about Christian Science, it inspired me to want to know more. At that time I had a painful bone felon on my thumb. This same sister said she would help me through Christian Science. She asked me to repeat with her the first line of "the scientific statement of being" from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy (p. 468): "There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter." This I did willingly. My sister's expectation of healing inspired me to have full trust in God. Very soon the pain ceased; I fell asleep and slept restfully through the night. The next morning I wakened still without pain and knew I was healed. How very grateful I was!
After this healing I began to read Science and Health through, but I soon drifted away from this reading as I did not seem to understand it. A few years later I began to study it again, together with the Bible Lessons in the Christian Science Quarterly. I have never dropped this study or relied on anything else for healing or solving problems.
I have been healed of indigestion in a severe form. I was very grateful when I got to the point that I could eat anything without harm. I was also healed of malarial fever, heart trouble, and almost total deafness. All these things were healed through prayer in Christian Science. My understanding of God as man's life, and of the immortality of each child of God, sustained me when my husband and one of my sisters passed on. Some of these healings were with the help of Christian Science practitioners. How unselfish and faithful they are to help us! I am very grateful.
