I turned to Christian Science when there were many dark waters in my life, and, as a result, I was asking myself many soul-searching questions. Books on philosophy and psychiatry, questions to doctors and clergymen, did not give me satisfying answers. It was only through the study of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy that the door was opened to understanding. I found answers that were truly beautiful, sensible, and very satisfying. The light that this study gave me on the nature of God and man brought the most peaceful and beautiful experiences that anyone can have.

The first physical healing I had was the result of mental surgery. Prior to coming into Christian Science, I had a condition for over ten years diagnosed as a deposit of calcium under my gum. I was advised that oral surgery would be necessary as the deposit would only grow larger and cause complications and difficulties. The love of God for man was becoming clear to me through the writings of Mrs. Eddy. I was so inspired when reading from Science and Health (p. 463), "A spiritual idea has not a single element of error, and this truth removes properly whatever is offensive," that when I woke the following morning, there on my tongue was the stone. A small opening in my gum closed within a few days, and the healing was complete.

The realization of the healing power of the Christ came from this healing and many more. I began to recognize that the best physician I could rely upon was God, and I knew that, for me, God would be the only healer.
