Love Reflects Love
In the chapter on "Prayer" in Science and Health, Mrs. Eddy gives the spiritual sense of the Lord's Prayer as understood in Christian Science. She gives "And Love is reflected in love" Science and Health, p. 17; as the spiritual sense of the words, "And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors." Matt. 6:12; What greater debt could we owe our fellowman than to love him?
The aptness of this interpretation was illustrated in the experience of a friend of mine. Although she expressed qualities of honor and goodness, she appeared frequently subjected to many injustices from others. Her life seemed to consist of one unhappy experience after another. And she was battle weary!
When she began the serious study of Christian Science, she sometimes asked the Christian Science practitioner whose help she sought why she was the victim of so much injustice. She felt instinctively that her own thinking was at fault somewhere, but how could this wrong picture be changed? Then one day she telephoned the practitioner to tell her joy over an awakening she had had from this argument of persecution.
