The Golden Rule—Let's Keep it Golden

Visitors to the Wednesday testimony meeting held weekly in Christian Science churches are often impressed by the deep interest with which members of the congregation listen to the testimonies of healing that are given. Their interest indicates the loving concern that each one feels for his neighbor's good. Each one shares in the glory of his brother's healing and rejoices in his spiritual progress.

Christ Jesus gave dynamic meaning to the age-old rule for loving one's neighbor when he said, in his great Sermon on the Mount, "All things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets." Matt. 7:12; These memorable words are well known among Christians as the Golden Rule. It has its counterpart in many of the world's great Scriptures and religions. It is of special importance in Christian Science.

In the opening pages of The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, Mrs. Eddy writes: "The First Commandment of the Hebrew Decalogue, 'Thou shalt have no other gods before me,' and the Golden Rule are the all-in-all of Christian Science. They are the spiritual idealism and realism which, when realized, constitute a Christian Scientist, heal the sick, reform the sinner, and rob the grave of its victory." My., p. 5;
