[Ability to demonstrate Christian Science comes with study and practice of the truth taught by Christ Jesus and revealed in Science and Health. This series touches upon some ways in which this truth can be applied.]
Healing by dismissing evil as unlawful
God is the only creator and lawgiver. This fact should deter any thinking person who has faith in God from giving serious consideration to physical symptoms, or to the belief that evil in any form is real or that a law exists that could bring sorrow to the universe or man.
One who reasons correctly from divine cause to effect must surely realize that, despite the sense-evidence, even the most blatant claim of sin, sickness, disease, discord, or death is contrary to the divine law of good. One must understand why Mrs. Eddy writes, "Dismiss it with an abiding conviction that it is illegitimate, because you know that God is no more the author of sickness than He is of sin." Science and Health, p. 390.
If one is faced with discordant physical symptoms—of inflammation or indigestion, of decay or dislocation, of disease believed to be hereditary or induced by a so-called health law—these symptoms can be instantly rejected (and they should be) on the basis of their illegitimacy under God's law of good.
