Year before last our son left one evening on a trip to a seaport...
Year before last our son left one evening on a trip to a seaport about eight hours away from the city. Next morning my husband was advised by telephone that our son had been in an accident, that the car in which he was traveling had turned over three times, and that the car had had no seat belts. My husband went to get him without knowing what he would find.
I came home after my husband had gone and found a note from him telling me where he had gone and why. A number of young people, some neighbors and friends of ours, had had fatal accidents on the same highway. I immediately called a Christian Science practitioner to help me overcome my fears and to pray for my son.
Toward morning the next day my husband arrived home with our son. The boy presented a very alarming picture. My husband, who is not a Scientist, had some X-ray pictures taken at the hospital. They showed our son had a fractured rib cage. However, the boy expressed a firm desire for Christian Science treatment and refused medical attention. Consecrated prayerful work was done for him daily, and the following Sunday he was back in Sunday School.
