"Mom, may I ride my bike to the library alone?" Jim asked excitedly, as he dashed into the kitchen.

Jim's mother hesitated. The library was not very far away, but the streets curved confusingly, and you had to make a couple of tricky turns to get there.

"Do you know the way?" his mother asked doubtfully.
