The Pastor's Message

A message of utmost importance is offered to the world each week, each day, each hour. This message contains the recipe for health, happiness, and success. It is pure in content, deep in inspiration, and timely in subject. It comes through the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly.

In Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, the question is asked, "How can I progress most rapidly in the understanding of Christian Science?" The first sentence of Mrs. Eddy's answer is concise: "Study thoroughly the letter and imbibe the spirit." Science and Health, p. 495; In this progressive work of gaining the letter and the spirit of the Science of Christianity, study and application of the truths of the Bible Lesson play an essential part. Earnest students find the lesson filled with healing, guidance, and protection. It is literally a message of love from our Father-Mother God to His family.

Even though one has studied the lesson carefully many times, there are still new ideas each succeeding day. In speaking of the compassions of God, the author of the book of Lamentations refers to them as never failing and "new every morning." Lam. 3:23; Truth is indeed new every morning. It is infinite and cannot be depleted or used up any more than one can consume a number 4 by constant use. It is always ready for new employment, new heights of application. Many Christian Science practitioners, for example, have found that much of their prayerful work in meeting universal and individual human needs has its source in the current Lesson-Sermon.
