Christian Science Reading Rooms throughout the world are...

Christian Science Reading Rooms throughout the world are fulfilling an important purpose of giving spiritual refreshment to the weary pilgrim. I formed the Reading Room habit when on tour giving concerts. No sooner had I checked into a hotel than I would locate a Reading Room.

A healing I had a number of years ago took place after I had struggled with a physical condition for several days. The thought came to me to visit one of the Reading Rooms and stay there until I experienced a healing. I studied and worked prayerfully for about two and a half hours until my thinking was elevated. Finally I clearly saw that there was no sick matter or well matter, no good matter or bad matter, no young matter or old matter, and, in fact, that I was not a mortal, needing to be healed. The physical healing followed my change of thought. With the acceptance and acknowledgment of my undisturbed, perfect spiritual selfhood, I was healed. I truly knew that in Him I "live, and move, and have [my] being" (Acts 17:28).

At another time I had an attack of influenza so severe that I was unable to sleep or rest through the night. Treatment was asked for from a Christian Science practitioner fifteen hundred miles away. Despite a sense of weakness and much coughing, it was necessary for me to attend an important rehearsal in the morning. When I returned home in the afternoon, exhaustion seemed to engulf me.
