At the time our three daughters were invited to visit a Christian Science Sunday School, I was under the care of a physician and had been sent to specialists for treatment. At Sunday School the children soon learned "the scientific statement of being" from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. The children's confidence that the truth contained in that statement would heal me of the painful, weakened condition I had suffered for a number of years led me to begin the earnest study of this religion. Through reading the Bible and Science and Health I became stronger and was not confined to bed any longer. I could care for my home, my family, and a garden without fear of any adverse effects. This healing occurred over thirty-five years ago, and the condition has not returned.

I am grateful for a healing I experienced approximately twenty years ago that has also been permanent. I had become extremely ill during the night. I prayed the best I knew how. My husband, who was not a student of Christian Science, called a doctor, who diagnosed the condition as gallstones and said that he wanted to operate the next morning. At my request my husband telephoned one of our children in another city for prayerful treatment. He was lovingly asked to read me a passage from the Lesson-Sermon for that week: "Spirit's senses are without pain, and they are forever at peace. Nothing can hide from them the harmony of all things and the might and permanence of Truth" (Science and Health, pp. 214, 215). Once more Truth was the victor, and I was healed through prayer. There was no need for an operation or another visit from the doctor.

I am grateful for the healing of a broken collarbone recently. I had apparently lost consciousness and fallen. After regaining consciousness I repeated "the scientific statement of being" as found in our textbook, with the concluding lines (ibid., p. 468): "Spirit is immortal Truth; matter is mortal error. Spirit is the real and eternal; matter is the unreal and temporal. Spirit is God, and man is His image and likeness. Therefore man is not material; he is spiritual." Soon I was able to telephone a Christian Science practitioner. I asked the practitioner to help me realize that there are no accidents in divine Mind. There was a great deal of pain. I could not raise my arm to comb my hair or even dress myself. After about a week I could move my arm with little pain, and in about two weeks the healing was complete.
