With a grateful heart I think of our dear Father-Mother God, our Master and Way-shower, Christ Jesus, and the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy. The Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, written by Mrs. Eddy, shows us how we can be saved from sickness, sorrow, and sin through Christ. I am also especially grateful for the Bible Lessons in the Christian Science Quarterly.

For three years I suffered from severe pains in the stomach, which sometimes let up, only to return again and again, often so violently that I could scarcely think clearly. Then I asked a Christian Science practitioner for treatment, which was given me. The following passage in our textbook always gave me fresh courage (p. 22): "If your endeavors are beset by fearful odds, and you receive no present reward, go not back to error, nor become a sluggard in the race.

"When the smoke of battle clears away, you will discern the good you have done, and receive according to your deserving."
