The Runaway Bus
Kim was captain of his school rugby team. One Saturday afternoon the team was to play against another school seventy miles away. A large bus was hired, and the boys enjoyed the drive through beautiful country. The trees were decked in the rich tints of autumn, the fields were golden, and velvety blue shadows lay in the hollows of the hills.
They had an active, friendly match against their opponents and gained a good score, so they were feeling happy as they climbed into the bus for the homeward journey.
The bus driver started the engine. He had waited for them the whole afternoon.
