When I was five years of age, I became acquainted with a neighbor who was a Christian Science practitioner. I spent much time in her home, and she often spoke to me of God's love for His children. Her explanations seemed very beautiful to me, and I was completely healed of croup and earaches, which had made the winters miserable for me. Other healings followed. I attended the Christian Science Sunday School regularly, although none of the other members of my family seemed interested.
My family moved to a farm when I was fifteen, and there was no Church of Christ, Scientist, within miles. Gradually I drifted away from Science and attended another church, which was nearby.
Some years later, after I was married and the mother of two little girls, I was suddenly stricken with a severe case of arthritis in a crippling form.
