THE WALK TO EMMAUS
"Did not our heart burn within us?"
The two disciples said.
Did he not tell them all the truth,
When they were breaking bread?
They knew the Christ had touched them then,
As it never had before.
They gladly carried forth the bread.
And went from door to door.
Our hearts still burn within us when
We hear the truth expressed.
We humbly take the bread and wine,
And let our lives attest
The living love our Master taught
On the long hot road that day.
We too would open now our eyes
And follow in the Way.
