In sincere gratitude I can testify that Christian Science has blessed me in many ways for over forty years.

The sustaining power of Christian Science and the unflinching faith of the practitioners who gave me treatment were demonstrated for me during a painful experience twenty years ago. I found I was unable to grasp and hold things, and my legs were unable to bear me along. I had a young child. My first prayer was that I be enabled to overcome these difficulties in God's way, and I was sustained by my devout teacher, who was able to arrange for my being given rest and care in a Christian Science nursing home. After two weeks of quiet study there, and visits from a practitioner, the use of my hands returned, and I was able to walk steadily.

I remember that on one visit the practitioner referred me to the three degrees in the "Scientific Translation of Mortal Mind" on page 115 of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy in which there are three headings: The "First Degree: Depravity" is classified as "Physical" and includes fear, sickness, disease. The "Second Degree: Evil beliefs disappearing," classified as "Moral," includes among other moral qualities, honesty, hope, faith. The "Third Degree: Understanding" is classified as "Spiritual" and includes spiritual power, love, health, and holiness.
