Emerging from Fiery Trials

Probably most every adult has at some time passed through a harsh experience that has seemed to be a fiery trial. An understanding of the omnipresence and omnipotence of God and complete reliance on Him for guidance, support, and protective care have enabled many individuals throughout the centuries to emerge from severe trials unharmed and strengthened.

A Bible story tells of three Hebrews, captives in Babylon, who refused to worship the golden image the king had set up and in penalty were thrown into an intensely heated furnace. Their consciousness of God's presence with them was so clear and firm that the king believed that he saw a fourth form in the furnace. He said, "Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God." Dan. 3:25;

When the Hebrews emerged from the furnace at the king's command, it was apparent that they were unaffected by the fire. The king was so impressed by this outcome that he praised God and acknowledged His power to deliver those who trust in Him.
