Carl Wins!

[For children]

Carl wished he had a friend his own age who lived close by— someone who'd walk to school with him and share secrets. When Father and Mother told him they were moving to the city, he said, "Wow! There may be a boy living right next door."

On the day that they drove to their new home Carl spotted a boy about his size standing on the steps of a house at the other end of the block.

"There is my friend," thought Carl. "He lives on one corner and I live on the other."
