I would like to express gratitude for Christian Science
I would like to express gratitude for Christian Science. I am very grateful for the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. I find this statement true and practical (ibid., p. 231): "What God cannot do, man need not attempt. If God heals not the sick, they are not healed, for no lesser power equals the infinite All-power; but God, Truth, Life, Love, does heal the sick through the prayer of the righteous." And the statement from John (14:12), "He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also."
As a barber, I was stropping my razor one day. I cut my finger quite badly and through part of the fingernail. I washed the blood off and held the cut together with my other hand. Then I sat down in the barber chair and prayed as we learn to do in Christian Science. In just a few minutes I was healed. A customer came in, and I got up from the chair, washed my hand, and worked on the customer as though nothing had happened. The healing was permanent.
Christian Science first came to my attention when a woman who was a student of Christian Science roomed with us. I got her to order me a copy of Science and Health. In studying the Bible, I had found the healings by Christ Jesus of great interest. I had been looking for a church that practiced Christian healing. When I got home one evening from my work, my new book was there. I was anxious to see what it said, so I began to read on the first page. I had not read two pages when I knew I had found what I had been looking for. The things I read so stirred me that I put the book down. But I finally realized that if I was to get well I had to have help from some source besides pills, so I ventured to pick up my book again. I read it with care, a few lines at a time, and considered them well.
