Christian Science healed my grandmother of invalidism when I...
Christian Science healed my grandmother of invalidism when I was very young, and through her steadfast prayers it healed me when I was at the point of passing on. One night when I appeared to be dying, my grandmother was called into my room. She declared the omnipotence and omnipresence of God so vehemently that I was instantly healed and cried out, "The light! the light!" Grandmother looked at the central lighting fixture and then said, "The light was on all the time." It was the light of Truth presented there which healed me.
During my childhood and early teens I was healed of warts, a dislocated shoulder, tonsillitis, measles, and also of fear of performing publicly on the piano.
Christian Science has blessed my marriage. Our daughter was born in a Christian Science nursing home. A breach birth seemed imminent. The Christian Science practitioner sent the midwife and nurse from the room and sat down quietly to pray. In a few minutes the unborn child suddenly changed to a proper position and shortly thereafter was born without pain. The exaltation of Christ, Truth, led both mother and child out of "the valley of the shadow of death" (Ps. 23:4). This daughter has grown to beautiful womanhood and loves Christian Science as I do.
Both our daughter and son were healed many times of so-called children's diseases through the application of Christian Science. Now our children are grown and have families of their own who are benefiting from Christian Science. Our grandchildren love attending the Christian Science Sunday School.
When I learned to play a pipe organ, I had another demonstration of God's help in human affairs. My niece had asked me to be the organist at her coming wedding in a large city church. I thought the three months given would be ample time in which to learn the instrument. I agreed. The aid of an organ teacher was enlisted, but time went by and I was unable to coordinate my feet with my hands. I had been an accomplished pianist and teacher of piano for many years, but this new experience confused my thinking. I discontinued taking organ lessons and turned completely to God as my only teacher. In that very hour an idea for learning to use the pedals dawned upon my waiting thought. This idea lighted the way to future work on every type of organ. In this particular instance I was able to play for my niece's wedding and was thought to be the church's regular organist. From this experience came hours of enjoyment and profit as a professional organist and teacher of organ. From that day to this I have made it a practice to humble myself before God, the one Mind, prior to performing on either piano or organ.
I am truly grateful for Mrs. Eddy's love in giving us this priceless truth of Christian Science, for all the help I have received from relatives, friends, and practitioners, for class instruction, and for membership in The Mother Church and a branch church. Most of all, I love God, and innumerable times the wonderful knowledge of His divine love has helped me help myself and those who have come to me for aid in Christian Science.
