I wish to express my gratitude for several healings that came to me through Christian Science.

I suffered for twenty years from a hip disease. Physicians could not agree whether it was lumbago or sciatica. On account of very acute pain I had to keep to my bed regularly twice a year for some months. Then the pain ceased, but the leg remained cold and stiff, and I had to massage it to bring life into it. It was at a time of great suffering that I became acquainted with Christian Science.

One of the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly contained this passage from the Bible: "And Asa in the thirty and ninth year of his reign was diseased in his feet, until his disease was exceeding great: yet in his disease he sought not to the Lord, but to the physicians" (II Chron. 16:12). After reading it I felt inspired. I wondered at myself because, having Almighty God for a physician, I had been seeking help in material medicine. I made up my mind then and there not to follow the example of Asa but to rely absolutely on God and place my whole trust in Him. And the Lord helped me. It seemed a hard struggle for three weeks, during which there were moments of overwhelming physical pain and moments of temptation that my understanding could not and would not lift that heavy veil. However, I stood my ground; I waited on God. And God answered me. I was completely and permanently healed. At that time my little daughter was instantaneously healed of a kidney complaint from which she had suffered for five years. The healing took place when I realized that the fears and beliefs of parents are responsible for a child's illness. I threw away all material remedies, and I allowed my child to eat whatever she desired. There was no return of any signs of illness. This healing, which took place also thirty years ago, has been permanent.
