Never Let Down
Where there is life, there is action, mental movement. And when we realize that real life begins with divine Life, or God, as Christian Science explains, we see how wrong it is to let down in our mental activity or to accept the worldwide belief that this must happen as people advance in years. Whether they live primitively in a jungle or sophisticatedly in a great city, the elders of society generally do not resist the mental inertia that suggests itself to them, because they do not know how to resist it. So they are taken in by the mortal belief of deterioration, used by it, defeated by it.
But defeat should not happen. Christian Science shows that no one need let down in useful activities and that there is a way to avoid doing it. Mentally and physically, action can continue to be vigorous and spontaneous. But this requires dedicated obedience to the First Commandment, "Thou shalt have no other gods before me." Ex. 20:3;
