Accept the One Mind

The writer's experience of being guided into the right path for the scientific solution of life's enigma is not unique. Something similar has undoubtedly been encountered by every seeker of Truth. Through the help of a Christian Science practitioner he had had an outstanding demonstration of God's power. From this experience he was thoroughly convinced that he had found something new in life, something desirably different, and, what is most important, provable.

However, when, for the first time, with the intention of reading it through, he opened Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, he immediately crossed swords with mental resistance. After he had read the first page of the Preface of the textbook, the argument was: "This is pretty deep. It could be just another philosophy. I can read it some time in the future when it is more convenient."

The writer closed the book and walked away from it. He had not taken five steps when a thought, almost a voice, stopped him in his tracks. The message was clear and lovingly convincing: "How can you be fair about this book unless you read it? It certainly can't hurt you, and it could have great treasure for you. Remember the recent help you obtained in Christian Science? Find out what did the work. Let it have a chance!"
