How I love the Wednesday testimony meetings! Originally I attended them from time to time out of politeness to my husband. I heard so many impressive testimonies of the power of prayer to heal that I was gradually convinced of its effectiveness. Later I became a member of a Church of Christ, Scientist, myself.

My husband and I have had a regular baby-sitting arrangement with a neighbor in order to be able to attend the Wednesday evening meetings. That has been a well-spent dollar every week. We leave the meeting full of joy and enthusiasm and with a renewed interest in the needs of the community. The habit of regular attendance has stood us in good stead.

Often I have experienced the power to heal that comes from communion with God during these spiritually uplifting midweek meetings. Certainly the most striking instance was the birth of our third child. The birth appeared to be imminent, but because the baby was in breech position, I was warned that the process would most likely be slow, perhaps taking several days before the actual birth. The Christian Science practitioner who was supporting me restored my confidence by turning my thought away from this prediction and back to God. With a lighter heart and a sense of expectancy I went with my family to the Wednesday evening meeting.
