Blessed., . undefiled (Ps. 119:1)
The word translated "blessed" in both this and the following verse is not the regular Hebrew word for "blessed" but means more strictly "happy"; moreover, the Hebrew tamim (undefiled) is constantly rendered "perfect" in other Old Testament passages, and can also mean "upright, simple, honest, blameless, innocent." Thou art my King, O God: command deliverances for Jacob (Ps. 44:4)
The Revised Standard Version offers this translation: "Thou art my King and my God, who ordainest victories for Jacob."
