My husband and I were just starting a business and had obtained a loan from a bank for the construction of a small office building. My husband was working for a railroad company, and we depended on his salary to make the monthly payments on this loan. However, he became ill and could not work, so we were unable to meet these payments and were threatened with foreclosure. I tried every avenue I could think of to obtain financial assistance, but in vain.

I had newly become interested in Christian Science, and as a last resort I turned to it for help. I called a friend who had had class instruction in Science. She came and talked with me, allaying my fears. She gave me passages from the Bible and Mrs. Eddy's writings to study. I was assured that "with God all things are possible" (Matt. 19:26).

One of the passages from Science and Health is from page 368: "When we come to have more faith in the truth of being than we have in error, more faith in Spirit than in matter, more faith in living than in dying, more faith in God than in man, then no material suppositions can prevent us from healing the sick and destroying error."
