That we have God-given dominion over ourselves, our health, and our welfare is made evident anew to the student of Christian Science every time he demonstrates God's law of dominion in his own experience. One opportunity to prove this dominion, which belongs to man as the child and reflection of God, came to me when I had a bad case of ivy poisoning.

Previous to its appearance on my body, I had paid little or no attention to the general belief in such poisoning but had seen a severe case of it, complicated by blood poisoning, in a member of my family and had held great fear for that person's welfare at the time.

The condition first appeared on my face and was soon evidenced all over my body. Gripped with fear, yet realizing from past experience in working with Christian Science that this too could be healed, f turned to a practitioner for help. Her aid and compassion were immediate. Referring me to the first chapter of Genesis, she assured me that God gave man dominion over all the earth, including "every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth" (Gen. 1:26). Further, as Mrs. Eddy states (Science and Health, p. 273): "God never ordained a material law to annul the spiritual law. If there were such a material law, it would oppose the supremacy of Spirit, God, and impugn the wisdom of the creator."
