Before becoming interested in Christian Science, I had lost two jobs in India and Persia (as the latter was then called) through ill health. Two doctors in Persia said they were returning me to England because if I were to stay in the Persian Gulf area I would undoubtedly have a recurrence of the trouble that had plagued me for some three weeks and they could not accept the responsibility. I do not know what medical term the doctors applied to the trouble, but I understood they feared an abscess on the liver.

I then went through a period of five years or more of indifferent health. It was not until some eighteen years ago, when I came to Australia, that I became sufficiently interested in God's healing power to study daily the Lesson-Sermons set out in the Christian Science Quarterly, and also the Manual of The Mother Church and the other writings of Mrs. Eddy. As a result of my study my health was restored.

Over twelve years ago my wife passed on after we had had nearly forty years together of happy married life. The passing was somewhat sudden, but through my work in Christian Science I was able to overcome grief and the sense of loss very quickly. For this I am grateful.
