I cannot speak: for I am a child (Jer.1:6)
This clearly should not be understood as implying that the prophet was a child in the literal sense of the word. His words seem rather to have been expressive of humility. The Hebrew word rendered "child" in this verse is na'ar, which can mean a youth or a young man.
A land . . . out of whose hills thou mayest dig brass (Deut. 8:9)
