The Treasure and the Thieves
[For young adults]
Don't we often daydream of future treasures? A beautiful home, a sleek motorcar, sparkling jewels, or a fat balance in the bank to pay for a very special project? Such daydreaming may start while we're still in school, long before it seems remotely possible to realize our dreams. So alluring do these objects appear that sometimes we lose sight of the fact that right now we have treasures infinitely more precious than all those we dream of!
These treasures are more desirable than any others because they are not perishable, limited, or destructible like those outlined by our daydreams. These treasures are the gift of our all-embracing Father-Mother God. They are in abundant and never-ending supply. No one is overlooked in God's giving, and no one needs to feel deprived or to submit to the urge to steal from another.
Truth's treasures are purity, integrity, trustworthiness, compassion, affection, and innocence, to name but a few. Each can make his own list and add to it as awareness of God's unlimited store of treasure grows. Each and every one of Love's ideas is thus endowed.
