What God Purposes
A real estate agent who was trying to sell a large piece of commercial property found himself in a disappointing position. He had a buyer who was interested in the property, but before an agreement could be concluded another party apparently had reached an agreement with the seller.
The real estate agent, who had been trying to apply his understanding of Christian Science to the situation, decided to ask a practitioner for help. In talking with the practitioner, he learned that we are not to outline according to human will what would be best in our transactions, but that we must leave decisions to divine intelligence, which, when it is understood, determines what is of greatest good for everyone.
He was assured that in reality only God's will can be done, since there is no human will to interfere with the operation of divine Mind. It was pointed out that God, Mind, governs and that one should want only that which comes from God and not desire for himself what God gives to another. The agent, a capable businessman, found a great sense of peace.
