My sickly childhood, culminating in a severe illness when I was nine years old, caused my mother to turn to Christian Science for my healing. I often think how true in my case are the words of Jeremiah (17:14), "Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed." Since this healing I have seldom been ill; and at no time have I been confined to bed for more than a few days, which proves Mrs. Eddy's claim that Science is preventive as well as curative. While I have had many other problems to work out, poor health has not been one of them.

One morning several years ago I awakened quite unable to move my right arm or shoulder without great pain. I made vigorous declarations of truth, trying earnestly to realize that they were the truth. One sentence of the Lord's Prayer with its spiritual interpretation, given on pages 16 and 17 of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, was helpful to me. It reads:
